Highlights of our 10-hour course:

This course is designed for service learning (SL) and global citizenship education (GCE) practitioners who want to deepen their practices and programs.

If we want to go beyond saviorism, simplistic understandings of local/global issues, and "othering" people and spaces, it's important to learn about some critical theories and approaches to our work.

In this course, you'll explore three critical theories, evaluate the difference between "soft" and "critical" SL and GCE, and identify aspects of your own practice or program that need attention.

The goal? Deep, meaningful and impactful learning experiences for students that challenge harmful stereotypes and unequal power paradigms, and that open up dialogue and spaces that are inclusive and equitable.
